How It Works

Sending a self-destructing message is simple. Here's a step-by-step walkthrough of the entire process — from composing your message to its final destruction.

STEP 1

Compose Your Message

Open the Create page and type your secret message. You can add an optional label (only visible to you) and attach files if needed. Everything you type stays on your device until you hit create.

STEP 2

Choose Your Security Settings

Decide how your message is protected. Add a password for an extra layer of security. Choose when the message self-destructs — after it's read, after a time limit, or both. Set how long the recipient has to view it once opened.

STEP 3

Get Your Share Link

Once you create the message, it's encrypted on your device and uploaded. You'll receive a unique, one-time share link. This link is the only way to access the message — and it's the key to decrypting it.

STEP 4

Share the Link

Send the link to your recipient through any channel — email, text, chat. If you added a password, share it through a different channel (like a phone call) so it's never in the same place as the link.

STEP 5

Recipient Opens & Reads

When your recipient clicks the link, they'll see the message (entering the password first if you set one). Screenshots and copy-paste are blocked during viewing. A countdown timer shows how long they have to read.

STEP 6

Message Self-Destructs

When the viewing timer expires — or the time limit passes — the message is permanently deleted from our servers. No backup, no recovery, no trace. It's gone for good, for everyone.

Tip: You can track all your messages from the Home page. Pending messages show a "Pending" status. Once read or destroyed, the status updates automatically. You can delete any message manually at any time.
